Widows Ministry - New Life Church
Life can be tough for widows in Malawi where there is no welfare state and widows often find themselves retaining family responsibilities with little resources.
This group of 50-60 women meets fortnightly at the New Life Church centre in Bvumbwe. Marian Williams, Nellie Ncherewatha, Rynod & Gladys Kantwanje are all involved in making it an enjoyable and encouraging occasion and the ladies greatly look forward to it.
When the old ladies arrive the passage of years is evident in their wrinkled faces and frail bodies but they really come alive when they start to praise in dance and song! They pray together and share testimonies of God's help in their daily lives. They also enjoy a drink with some bread and sometimes receive simple gifts of soap, salt, cooking oil etc.
